Golden Globe nomination for Son of Saul
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association unveiled the nominations for the 2016 Golden Globes on Thursday, December 10th. After 27 years we have a Hungarian connection to the prestigious event again: Son of Saul got a nomination in the category of Best Foreign Language Motion Picture.
After numerous nominations and awards in Europe, László Nemes’ first feature film was the number one talking point of the European cinema lately, now the film began to conquer the US by winning the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the Best First Feature Film award from the New York Film Critics Circle.
The Golden Globe nomination is the next step to get into the elite group of filmmakers. So far only two Hungarian movies had the chance to win this recognition in the past, both films were directed by István Szabó (Colonel Redl and Hanussen).
We are excitedly looking forward to the Golden Globe ceremony on the 10th January, just a few days before the nominations for the Academy Awards are announced on the 14th January.
