Hungarian Filmlab Award at the FIAF Congress 2014

At the world congress of this year held in Skopje, Macedonia of FIAF, the international federation of film archives a 10 000 EUR prize was given by the Hungarian Filmlab.

At the gala, organized together with the Macedonian National Film Archive and the Embassy of Hungary in Skopje, a 60 minute digital copy of the Manaki brothers’ heritage, pioneers of cinematography in the Balkans, was screened. These more than 100 years old nitro films were restored in the Hungarian Filmlab, 20 years ago by analogue processes, and 1,5 year ago the digital restoration of the whole heritage was performed. The award was given to the winner of the film history contest of FIAF, Mr. Hisashi Okajima, Head of the National Film Center in Tokyo. The prize can be redeemed for 35 mm film scanning services. At the one week long event our colleagues received the FIAF delegates at a separate stand.
