The Romanian-Hungarian Best intentions at the Locarno Film Festival
The Romanian-Hungarian feature, Best intentions (Din dragoste cu cele mai bune intenții), written and directed by Adrian Sitaru got the Best director and the Best actor awards at the 64th Locarno Film Festival. The director in 2007 got the Pardino d'Oro for Waves at the same festival.
Alex (Bogdan Dumitrache), a mid-thirties neurotic, control-maniac man receives a phone call from his father saying his mother is in the hospital after a stroke. He, frozen in shock, travels back to Bucharest, his hometown to deal with his mother’s sickness in the best way that he can, arguing with everyone around him: the doctors, family members, friends and patients, all of them giving him well intentioned advice. As each of his mistakes is compounded, he discovers his own powerlessness, which leads him to a state of paranoia.
The feature, styled dramedy as well as complex psychological thriller had got many long and positive reviews already before the award-giving ceremony. Full post production of Best intentions was made at the Hungarian Filmlab. We are glad to have been part of it.
